"COP in My City Nepal 2024", the flagship event of CliMates Nepal, was successfully organized with support from the Open Dialogue on Climate Change (ODCC). The three-day event aimed to empower youth through an in-depth, immersive understanding of the UNFCCC Conference of the Parties (COP) mechanism.



Held as a simulation of real-world climate negotiations, the event enabled young leaders and climate enthusiasts to engage in hands-on roleplays reflecting the complexities of international climate governance. Participants developed negotiation skills, deepened their grasp of climate policy frameworks, and explored how global decisions intersect with local climate realities.



Alongside the simulations, the event featured policy consultations focused on Nepal’s climate vulnerabilities and adaptation opportunities. These sessions brought together government officials, climate experts, local leaders, and youth activists, fostering inclusive dialogue on mitigation and adaptation strategies suited to Nepal’s unique ecological and social contexts.
