Turn environmental passion into data-driven impact
A 6-month structured learning journey designed to tackle Nepal's environmental challenges using real-world data and analytical skills.
Nepal needs data-ready climate professionals. Now.
Climate change, floods, biodiversity loss, air pollution - these crises are intensifying. Yet many environmental graduates lack the data and analytical skills to spot trends or drive evidence-based decisions. The NCH Data Fellowship closes that gap.
Many graduates have strong conceptual knowledge but lack the practical, technical competencies required to solve real-world environmental problems. This leaves them underprepared for research, policy, and climate action in an increasingly data-driven world.
The global evidence behind why this fellowship exists
Limited capacity to use climate data for decision-making remains one of the most persistent barriers to effective climate action across developing nations.
Persistent data gaps hinder climate policy analysis in Nepal, leaving planners without the evidence base needed to respond to escalating environmental risks.
Gaps in data, institutional capacity, and technical expertise that limit evidence-based policy are among the foremost challenges facing Nepal's climate commitments.
Bridging the gap between knowledge and impact
The NCH Data Fellowship 2026 is a 6-month structured learning and mentorship program designed to equip students and early-career professionals from environmental and related disciplines with practical data and analytical skills
Environmental challenges such as climate change, urban flooding, biodiversity loss, and air pollution are intensifying across Nepal and addressing them requires more than theoretical understanding. Through hand-on learning, guided mentorship, and real-world project work, fellows build the ebaility to work with data- analyzing trends, interpreting petterns and generating evidence for decision-making.
Hands-on practical curriculum
Python or R programming, data cleaning, exploratory analysis, and generating insights from real environmental datasets.
Guided mentorship pairs
Each group of fellows is paired with a dedicated mentor who provides hands-on guidance throughout the program.
Real-world capstone project
Fellows pitch, build, and publish a full data project — a portfolio piece that demonstrates applied skills to employers.
Community & network access
Connect with SAFE Nepal, NFCA Nepal, fellow cohort members, mentors, and speakers across climate, data, and academia.
